CONGRATULATIONS! WE DID IT. It looks like Summerfest was a success and we made enough money to get the truck painted. This was truely a group effort and could not have succeeded without the great support we got from the band students and the parents. I want to thank everyone for the help planning and of course for Saturday. A big thank you to all of the wonderful band students who showed up in force on Saturday to setup, work the event and stayed to cleanup. Another big thank you to all of the many wonderful parents and former students that volunteered to help on Saturday.
I especially want to thank the committee chairs that worked tirelessly all day on Saturday making sure that everything ran smoothly. They are: Band Booster President, John Gouveia; Concessions Chair, Sheri Mohle; Games Chairs, Paige Gordon and Raquel Davis; Inflatables Chair, Lizzette Moss; Parking Chair, Bill Patterson; Setup/Cleanup Chairs, Don Davis and Wendell Gordon; Tickets/Money Chair, Andie Wolfer; Publicity Chair, Linda Wang; and Permits Chair, June Price. Thank you also to all of the other committee members that came to a meeting a week planning this event over the summer. It really took a lot of time and effort and they deserve a load of gratitude.
I also want to thank Steve Sobieski, dad of band member Abbey Sobieski. His company is responsible for the great inflatables, carnival games, dunk tank, cotton candy, popcorn and of course, those snow cones that we could not have made it through the day without. The name of his company is Fun Services of Texas (www.funservicesoftexas.com). They worked tirelessly setting up and taking down all of that equipment and making sure that everyone knew how to operate it. Thank you for all you did and continue to do.
Another great big thank you goes out to Dr. James Jackson, dad of band member Sean Jackson. Dr. Jackson and Clear Lake ER on Falcon Pass operated the First Aid Station for the entire event on Saturday. With the heat, there was definitely a need and it was great to know that everyone was in good hands. If you don't know anything about them, they are located on Falcon Pass, between Walgreens and Falcon Pass Elem. I can tell you from first hand knowledge, they are great when you need emergency care.
I also want to thank our wonderful Band Directors, John Pearce (what an induction to Clear Lake HS) and Grant Mc Williams, who put up with me in the office quite often and stayed to make sure that everything was cleaned up on Saturday. I want to thank my Co-Chair, Ron Zaguli for helping to make this event the success it was.
And last, but certainly not least, I want to thank my family for all of their support and help, Joe Munoz, the director and my husband, who spent almost as many hours planning this event as I did, and my children, Lexi, Jared and Lindsey, who also spent quite a bit of time helping with this event.
THANK YOU ALL FOR A GREAT EVENT
D'Juana Munoz
Summerfest Co-Chair
For all of my adult and student volunteers, I would like to thank you for helping with concessions. We had plenty of ice chests, ice and great attitudes, even though it was really hot! You made my job very easy. Thanks again!
Sheri Mohle
A brief note on Summerfest: We had well over 200 students and parents play a role in obtaining the funds to get our trailer painted. So, five years from now on some Friday afternoon when you see the Clear Lake Band trailer drive by on the way to a game, please feel proud that you were the people who made it possible. John Gouveia
