FAQ: Chaperones FAQ
I've never chaperoned before, what do I need to know?
Nothing. Be of sound mind and body, ready to serve, and expect the unexpected. We'll provide instructions, and will always be available. Rest assured, you are qualified!

Do I have to go to every game/event?
Absolutely not! It's a big operation, and takes a lot of people, but many people will volunteer. If you are scheduled, and something comes up last minute, a substitute is usually easy to find. I'm pretty sure that something came up for someone at every event last year.

What about playoff games, they're not listed?
We don't count our chickens before they are hatched, those opportunities will be available as scheduled on a first come, first served basis.

I would love to chaperone, but it might be best if I didn't ride on my kid's bus. Can you accommodate?
Yes (there are similar requests every year)

It's a yellow school bus, isn't it?
Yes, and most are now air conditioned. Distance trips (there are a few) are on charter buses.

Why would I want to do this?
We had an amazing time last year! But since 'past performance is no indication of future results', how about not having to hassle with parking and free admission to the games. I think I can also safely say that no one regrets being involved.

What else do I need to know?
We don't sit around. We refill water jugs, escort students to the restrooms, distribute plumes, help with the pit percussion and props at halftime (it took about 40 people last year), hand out washcloths after the show, distribute sodas 3rd quarter, and whatever else needs to be taken care of. Please be open to any requests that come your way.
