What does it mean to be a Band Hero? Simply requesting complimentary products or services from businesses that you patronize or want to patronize. The donations will be auctioned on the evening of the Ensemble Recital and Percussion Concert, and Italian Dinner on February 18, 2010.
Why are donations needed? The Silent Auction is a significant contributor to the overall profitability of the Falcon Band Booster Club’s revenues and allows the club to fund the band’s competition expenses and clinician fees, and assist with the purchase of school instruments – all of which improves the prospect of college scholarships for our band members.
How does donating help the business providing the product or service? The business is identified as a “Falcon Band Friend” by reaching ~250 band members, parents, family and friends in Silent Auction advertising. The Falcon Band Booster Club is501(c) (3) organization and according to IRS regulations, the contribution is tax deductible.
When should the donation requests be made? Now! Simply print this Thank You letter, approach a friendly face at a local business, introduce yourself as a Clear Lake High School Falcon Band supporter and ask for a donation. Upon receipt of a donation, leave the printed attachment that contains the booster club’s tax ID, band and event information. If the decision-maker is not available, write at the bottom of the letter “Please call (insert your name and phone number) for pick-up. Thanks!” and try again with another business.
What should be done after receiving a donation or contacting a business? Contact Laurie Koenig at 281.488.0347 or laurie@thescrapbookstudio.net with the business name and donation description or request as quickly as possible to avoid multiple requests of the same business. Drop-off donations in the green ice chest on the Koenig’s front porch at 1802 Winter Knoll Way (in Bay Oaks near the Pineloch/Space Center intersection) or drop in the Band Booster Mail Box in the Band Office.
Please print this email and several copies of the attached letter right now and put them in your car as a reminder as we go about our daily routines.
